Eman Abdelsameea, MD, NLI, Menoufia University, Egypt

Dr. Eman Abdelsameea is a Professor of hepatology and gastroenterogy and Vice Dean for postgraduate study and research affairs, National Liver Institute (NLI), Menoufia University, Egypt. She is also the Head of Institution Review Board (IRB) of National Liver Institute, Menoufia University, Egypt and member in the European Association for the Study of Liver Disease (EASL).

Dr. Tawhida Abdelghaffar: is a Professor and Head of both the Pediatric Hepatology Unit and the Unit for Management of Gastrointestinal Bleeding in Pediatrics at Ain Shams University. She is also the Head of Pediatric Hepatology at Yassin Abdel Ghaffar Charity Center for Liver Disease and Research in Cairo, Egypt. She currently serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Society of Friends of Liver Patients in the Arab World.

Professor Tawhida Abdelghaffar has also been awarded a fellowship of the American Association for Study of Liver Disease (AASLD).

Egyptian Liver Journal is the official journal of the Society of Friends of Liver Patients in the Arab World (SLPAW) and the National Liver Institute (NLI).

Since its establishment as an NGO in 1979 by a group of Egyptian intellectuals and doctors headed by Professor Yassin Abdel Ghaffar, the Society of Friends of Liver Patients in the Arab World (SLPAW) has been playing a leading role in the identification, prevention and management of liver disease as well as successfully providing social and economic support for patients and their families.

The NLI was founded in 1986 by the late Professor Yasin Abdel Ghafar as a unique specialized academic institution in the Middle East and Africa for the study of liver diseases. The goal is to provide outstanding healthcare services in management of liver diseases and contribute to the future generation of hepatologists in Egypt.
